The Character
Takada is your everyday business-woman who is serious and practical. She was obviously smart and talented to begin with, since she was graduated from Tohou University, but is also beautiful (Miss Todai). With all these wonderful qualities, Takada holds a lot of pride and obviously wants to be around people who are just as accomplished as her (aka. Light). Takada though, has her weaknesses, and even though she plays hard to get, Light is able to manipulate her by seducing her. She doesn't catch on too quickly and doesn't really dig too deeply into things, like how it is strange that Light says he loves Takada but is technically is MISA's boyfriend. In either case, Takada is a well-set woman, but at the end I don't think this really made a difference.
History We actually see Takada for the first time in Chapter 31. She has a small conversation with Light, and he actually goes out with her later on. Putting things simply, she was the popular one in the school (Miss Todai) and even though she denied it, she really liked her title and was proud of it. When Mikami gains the notebook, Light needs to find a way to communicate with Mikami, and the way he does this is through Takada. Takada becomes the the spokesperson for Sakura T.V., replacing Damegawa. Light gets in touch with her, and through her, he is able to get in contact with Mikami. Light meets with Takada all the time in order to send messages to Mikami and hits it off with her as well.
